Dana , pruning knife

Beech Wood Handle . Foldable pruning knife , or Boline . Hand carved . Inspired by Contentinental celtic design , from 4th century BC , also call "La Tene" style. To me this symbol cerved on the handle is Dana , The Mother of all Gods . The head is more an expression that a humanisation of a Goddess , she smiles and Close her Eyes in kindness as she gives her blessing for respectful Harvests .

Opinel is well know knife company from France , good quality stainless steel blades , foldable , easy to carry around and safe . A beautiful tool for gardening or for all sacred Harvests .
the size of the handle 4 inches and half , when unfold the knife is 8 and half inches long and well curved . Size 10.
The finish is totally organic , Mineral oil , essential oil , and bee wax only . It will require a certain maintenance , nourishing the wood with a bee wax sometimes is highly recommended .

Wild Woman spirit

I recently went to the woods near a lake that, for once, here in Oklahoma , is really well managed ! Two simples rules apply to it , no house on the shore , no boat's anchorage . Then this lake is WILD, surrounded by wooded hills , it is gorgeous!

A little while before I went there, the wild woman spirit came around me, she poked at me ! I carved a pruning knife cause of her and when I got back from the woods , I worked immediately at a new Drum design with a strong intent to honour Her.

When she comes, it often means that ... Some changes are coming my way ...

Here is the Knife :

( More description on Wiz Art etsy shop :
also on Wiz Art's face book page , come and join !

and some pics of the Drum's design , work in progress ...

I work first on paper to be able to explore more colours and shapes .. I sometimes do few versions of one design before I get to the best one for the drum. A lot of work ahead , but so much fun too ! :)
This "leafs" design is inspired by a ceramic piece from the 4th century BC , discovered in St Pol de Leon, Brittany, I was born not very far from there ! ! ;) ...

That's Fresh news !! Have a great day !

"Ancestor" Pruning knife

I called it Ancestor , because it really brought me back to a very ancient connection far in time to our Celtic Ancestors. The carving of this style and the volumes into it is a bit different that what I normally do. Recently I have been strongly attracted to ancient celtic design , call "La Tene "style with an unbelievable sense of satisfaction ! the expression of this style , unfortunately not really known today , as CELTIC , is for me the root of my celtic sensibility, so dear to my path as a artisan.
On sale on Wiz art's etsy shop.

Eastern continental celtic design on a pruning knife.

Design inspired by Eastern Sword Style decoration on iron scabbards 3rd century BC ( Croatia ).

I tried to get around that Eastern celtic Style for a while and no wood was happy with it until now ! Finally it took a knife , more a boline to accept this beautiful style not very well known but which deserves a great deal of interest... I will be exploring this style a bit deeper in the near future.

This knife is already Sold, and is going to great people that are gardening a lot and here in Oklahoma. It is actually a birthday present from a lovely wife to her husband! :)

An unexpected return from Tir Nag na n'Og

We are back from our vacation since almost a week already ! Unfortunately I had to do some pretty intense cleansing energy work in the House and the Studio. Bad people with very bad energies violated our home when we were gone in Tir na n'Og ! The animals were shook up , but with Love and care they are back to play and show happiness once again . All is well now , Harmony , Peace and Love are restored in our humble Home , and in the studio . From today and finally, I can get back to work!

But wait ! Our time in the Island was fantastic , it feels so natural to be there ,there are so many loving people in such a little piece of Land in the middle of the Big Great Sea , life is simple there , not easy but simple , and that always felt right. The welcome back was so warm , and totally regenerate my all Self, my soul had find its home again , I wish to move back there for good , May the Gods help us! :)

Lughnasadh, vacation time .

It is two years and few months , that I worked literally none stop, and it is time to get out of the studio , and travel to The Islands.

Lughnasadh is gathering tribal time , and I will do just that! :)

For two weeks I will be gone, and hopefully I will stay away from computers. If you send messages, please be patient, I will answer when I get back around the 9th of August.
Wiz Art's etsy shop is also closed for that duration, it is why the window on the left is blank for now. But no worries it will be back too ...

Happy Lughnasadh to every one. May Lugh shine on you and your Tribe.

Walnut Knife and Aspen Pendant .

These were made for a long time Friend of mine from Brittany, an other commission work and it was so fun to work for somebody that I know since such a long time ! :)
The fun is also that these pieces are going to Brittany , my beloved mother land and will be kept on my friend's heart !

Aspen Pendant .
I forgot again to take a last pic before sending it to my friend , this pics was at the last coat of beeswax, before polishing. oops !
Aspen is a pretty smooth wood to carve , the ivory/vanilla colour makes it very noticeable .

A walnut Knife :
Opinel # 8 .
The Dark colour of Walnut wood is very attractive of carving organic , even abstract organic designs.
